The weird thing about having five cars is whe n very few of them are operable. This must be what David Tracy feels like all the time! Since I’m having trouble keeping up with it, I figured a fleet status update would be amusing.
2013 Volvo C30 – At the Volvo dealer with a possibly failed ECU
2001 Land Rover Discovery – On jack stands in the garage,

before the drive shaft can be put back in. Parts
1987 Alfa Romeo Spider – Running and driving! But trapped by the Land Rover. Also it is cold and that thing doesn’t have a working blower fan.
1986 Honda Civic Wagon – Technically running and driving

. OK in-town, but not recommended for highway travel or anywhere where a hill needs to be traversed at any speed. Waiting on parts.
1984 Saab 900 Turbo – Operational and currently my “daily driver”. Has an occasional miss under load, likely due to oil contamination in the distributor cap, but drive-able as-is.
So yeah…. Shit.
A ton of parts will be here on Wednesday for both the Civic and the Land Rover, so at least there is that. In the interim there is plenty to go on the Land Rover, though I might try adjusting the float on the Civic’s carburetor, as suggested by ITA97, and see if that gets me up to two cars.
In a pinch I could put the Disco’s drive shaft back in, but then I’d have to take it out again sooner rather than later.
Heh.

What happened to the C30 ECU? What kind of symptoms?

In a somewhat similar boat right now except my Discovery is the reliable daily driver as of now.

Don’t know what caused it yet. Intermittent multiple random failures. A friend plugged it into VITA and it came up with pages and pages of garbage codes. At the dealer for the last three days... >_<

Terrifying, isn’t it?

I only have 3 cars, but for a bout 2 weeks there we were down to one.
mostly that was my fault tho, if i really wanted to I could have just run to Napa and bout one spark plug and the BMW would have been back on the road. instead I w anted to replace them all and the coils too. AND then i didn’t actually order the parts, I was one click away, didn’t realize that unti l a week later. D’oh

This picture was a nice reminder that Tulsa’s downtown is a fun, pleasant little place these days. Spent a lot of time in Tulsa as a kid and recently went back for a few nights for work and really enjoyed it.

The Volvo’s broken?!? That’s no fun at all, best of luck there .
This is why I bought a Tacoma, I’m like you as far as liking to have a fleet of beaters(Only one at the moment but that won’t last long, in fact I almost bought another L and R over this past weekend lmao ..) and the Taco does everything I need a vehicle to do and will just work for a very long time, freeing me up to play with weird old stuff without needing to ever really rely on them .

It’s shocking that the Saab is currently the most reliable daily choice with a Honda in the mix lol. Nice lineup though!

Yeah. Tulsa has improved/ changed tremendously in the last five years even. Now if only all of my favorite restaurants would stop closing....

That is how the Volvo has been for me but... damn. I dunno. It is my own fault for assuming I could power through the Disco maintenance this weekend.

Yeah, I just went and read that post, that’s no fun. It’s nice pretty much any part for old Rovers is readily available but it seems like almost anything takes a week to get to you.

Weird, that sucks. Hopefully it’s easily solved.

I feel you there. I have 1 car out of 5 in my driveway that actually works. I think the timing jumped on my Festiva (winter commuter car for my girlfriend). I have to do a timing job this week on it. Clutch cable is broken on the Autozam, the 91 miata getting the VVT swap need wiring, and an exhaust midpipe, the miata coupe project is miles away from being done, but my trusty mazda3 is plugging along.

I should have time to work on the Tercel soon. Just not sure where I want to do that...I’d prefer behind the fence so no one takes parts overnight.

Yeah. I thought I was going to get off easy as there was a D2 in the local junk yard. Sadly when i got there someone had pulled the transmission and transfer case, so there was nothing to pull. There was a remarkably complete 2004 Range Rover though... so that was fun haha.
Luckily looks like this place (bearmach.com) which I’ve never used before, seems pretty on it. The pistons shipped this morning and should be here Wednesday.

Yeah, I’ve actually bought a few things from them and they were pretty good. Part of my problem is all the US parts suppliers are on the east coast and I’m on the west coast so 5 day shipping actually means 5 day shipping.
